And they said it would never happen! This coming Friday, Driveway Thriftdwellers will release our 3rd album, High Top Van. This band feels like family to me and I'm so proud of how we pulled this thing together. It was a long time coming! Our last album came out seven years ago. We went through a pandemic and all kinds of life changes in that time. We've had tons of original songs building up, and we tried to record a couple times but the stars just weren't aligned. Sometimes music just has to wait for the right time and set of circumstances.

When we got together this April at TreeHouse Studios in Milwaukee, it was immediately apparent that we had something special. I've never had a recording session flow so smoothly. I've never had so much fun in the studio! We recorded a few road-tested songs that we'd been playing at recent gigs, but we also recorded a fair amount of never-before-performed material that magically came together before our eyes and ears. There was a sense of total openness to new ideas, no matter how crazy they might seem. You'll hear some random twists and turns in some of the songs that were captured on the first or second take. I think that sense of excitement and adventure is very apparent on the record. I give huge credit to our pal Ian Olvera for engineering and running the session. His demeanor and technical ability allowed us to just be ourselves, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering provided the final sheen and continuity, and Schnitzel Bear Studios gave us the killer artwork! Oh, we're going to have both vinyl and CDs available soon after the digital release.

I would say that some of this music was born out of troubled times, but it turned into a joyous, tender, humorous, and FUN sounding record. I can't wait for you to hear it!
