Happy New Year!

Hello all,

Well, it’s a new year. I hope 2022 brings peace, calm, and maybe a reprieve from this pandemic.

My biggest news is I’ve completed my second full-length album under my own name. The album is called The Hum. It’s going to be released on CD in the next few months, depending on venue availability and covid numbers. It will be on streaming services on April 29.

The Hum is made up of 11 songs written between 2018 and 2021. Despite the span of years, it still feels very much like a “pandemic record” to me. If you’ve been to any of my solo shows over the last few years, you’ve probably heard some of the songs. But a lot of the material has never been performed. The track listing:

  1. Rabbit Hole
  2. Under Our Noses
  3. Shattering Sky
  4. Game of Voices
  5. Victim Without a Crime
  6. Dark Streets
  7. Come Up for Air
  8. You Will Know
  9. What’s Good for You
  10. Actually Living
  11. Leave the Light On

Look for a single or two to drop before the album release. I’m excited and a little nervous to get this music out into the world. It’s definitely a departure from my last solo album. I feel that it’s a very important statement for me to make personally. I hope you like it, and if you don’t, that’s fine. I’ll keep you posted as details come together.

In the shorter term, I do have some January shows on my calendar. One of my favorite local bands, Wurk, is hosting a unique residency at the Harmony Bar every Friday in January. Two of my groups will be participating: The Civil Engineers on January 14 and The Big Payback on January 21. Check out the Facebook event page to see what it’s all about.

In other news, Driveway Thriftdwellers have started working on new music that we intend to release in 2022. We have a ton of promising songs and song fragments. We’ve been working fast and trying not to over-think decisions. If early sessions are any indication, you can expect something heartfelt and maybe with a little less polish and sheen than our last album.

That’s all for now. Here’s wishing you a happy and healthy year!
